Médecins du Monde
Ärzte der Welt (ÄDW) is part of the international humanitarian network Médecins du Monde (MDM) providing healthcare in 63 countries and giving a voice to vulnerable people worldwide. Based upon our experience of delivering care we campaign to make health a human right.
ÄDW teams are dedicated to restore and increase access to healthcare services for vulnerable and excluded population suffering from extreme poverty, natural disasters and armed conflict in emergencies, post-emergencies and in long-term development.
ÄDW's projects aim to bring appropriate and lasting solutions to the health needs of the affected people by tackling the long-term effects of poverty and exclusion from healthcare. This involves strengthening local health systems, building regional capacities and promoting health prevention and education.
ÄDW is an organisation of international solidarity that operates independently of political, religious or military agendas, responding to genuine needs and providing assistance regardless of the country of origin, sex, ethnic origin, religion or financial resources.
In 2010 our national staff and volunteers committed themselves in more than 180 international projects, with more than 2,000 volunteers, in 171 domestic programmes within its member countries.
