Deutsches Rotes Kreuz/German Red Cross

On the international level, the German Red Cross / Deutsches Rotes Kreuz (DRK) currently supports national Red Cross or Red Crescent Societies in more than 50 countries, with cooperation focused on disaster relief and disaster prevention, reconstruction and rehabilitation, water and sanitation including safe drinking water supply and hygiene programmes, basic health services, support for people living with Aids and their families, and on helping the poorest of the poor improve their living conditions through various programmes including food security. The cooperation with national Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies on site implies tailor-made local capacity building.
