Stefan Voigt
Dr Stefan Voigt has been coordinator of the DLR Center for Satellite Based Crisis Information (DLR/ZKI) since 2004. From 1991 to 1997, he studied physical geography, physics, remote sensing and urban planning at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany. From 1997 to 2000 he held a position as research fellow at Berne University, Switzerland, working on near real time snow cover remote sensing for hydrological applications and flood forecasting, and receiving his PhD in 2000. Since 2000, Dr Voigt has been working with the German Remote Sensing Data Center where he has been coordinating a large geoscientific Sino-German research initiative on uncontrolled coal seam fires, as well as contributing to and coordinating several national, European and international projects on the usage of earth observation data for crisis and disaster management, humanitarian relief and civil security matters.
