Since 1994 Professor in the study course Nursing Science, Vice Dean of the Faculty Human and Health Sciences of Bremen University, Managing Director of the Institute for Public Health and Nursing Sciences (IPP) at the University of Bremen.Head of department 3: Interdisciplinary Ageing- and Nursing Sciences (iap).
Main fields in research and teachings: nursing research, social gerontology, rehabilitation, and maintenance of competencies, quality assurance, -development and -management. New models and organisational development in health care service, training and qualification research, especially transfer between academia and practical application, Co-editor of scientific journals and book series, Member in numerous scientific associations and juries.
Consultant/ reviewer on federal and local level, Member in the organizing committee for the second world congress of the World Society of Disaster Nursing (WSDN) 2012 in Wales. International cooperation with the Netherlands, Poland, Moldova, Japan, South Korea, Mali and the Ivory Coast (among others).
