Sonja Weinreich

Sonja Weinreich is a senior health advisor with the Church Development Service (EED), based in Bonn, Germany. A social scientist and medical doctor, with a PhD in medicine from Tübingen University and a master's in public health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Dr Weinreich has worked as an orthopaedic surgeon, a family doctor and a tropical medicine specialist in Germany, and as a volunteer doctor in Zambia with various NGOs in the field of HIV/AIDS (1995-2000). From 2001 to 2007 she worked as an advisor on HIV/AIDS to the EED. Dr Weinreich served on the NGO delegation to the board of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, and is the Europe delegate of the NGO delegation to the UNAIDS governing body (Programme Coordinating Board).
