Marina Peter

Marina Peter has engaged herself in the development of Sudan for over 20 years. She has been the director of Sudan Focal Point-Europe, part of the international ecumenical network Sudan Ecumenical Forum (SEF) for peace, reconciliation and human rights, under the umbrella of the World Council of Churches since 1997. She has been involved with the IGAD (Intergovernmental Authority on Development), in Abuja peace talks and People to People Peace Processes, as well as she provided several consultancies on political analysis and conflict resolution.
Marina Peter studied German, history, sociology, and intercultural education and advice at the universities of Göttingen and Hildesheim. She regularly publishes on Sudan and conflict resolution issues.
In March 2008, Marina Peter was awarded the German Federal Cross of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande) for her commitment for peace in Sudan.
