Koki Gilberto

Koki Gilberto, Registered Nurse (Majors in Clinical/Public Health), Kenya Medical Training College, is currently attending a Masters in International Health at the Royal Tropical Institute, Vrije University, Amsterdam.
In Kenya, he had worked for the Ministry of Health in paediatrics, as Nursing Officer Supervisor and as Supervisor of a MCH/FP Clinic (Mother-Child-Health/Family Planning) and within the Referral District Hospital. In 2005 he joined the humanitarian world and worked for Goal Ireland within a primary health care project in South Sudan.
Mr. Gilberto had worked for Merlin UK, in both South Darfur and in Democratic Republic of Congo as a Field Medical Coordinator in charge of the emergency medical programme for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
In the Democratic Republic of Congo specifically, he was responsible for the establishment of the Sound Health system. Additionally, he trained the national staff and monitored and evaluated the project's impact. His last humanitarian assignment was with Médecins du Monde France as Medical Coordinator for the MDM Integrated Primary Health Care activities in South Darfur.
Koki Gilberto will be completing his International Health Master Program at The Royal Tropical Institute, Vrije University Amsterdam in September 2010.
