Kai Braker
Dr. Kai Braker, MD, graduated 1992 in Hamburg, has gained clinical work experience in internal medicine, gastroenterology, infectiology and tropical medicine in Hamburg and Dresden, Germany. For his medical thesis on cytoadherence in falciparum malaria he researched at the Bernhard-Nocht-Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg. In 2000, he specialized in internal medicine.
He then joined Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and attended 5 missions in Kenya, Sudan, and Afghanistan.
Kai Braker has been Health Advisor for the Berlin operational unit since 2004 and hereby supported projects in Nigeria, Bangladesh, Chad, Central African Republic, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Zimbabwe and Indonesia. Part of his work is to support and advise teams on the implementation of medical strategies and programs in the field of complex emergencies, malaria, HIT, MDR-TB, reproductive health and speciality areas as sleeping sickness and Kala-Azar.
The field of vaccination and programming for displaced and refugee populations have been of special interests for him.
