Eric Goemaere
Eric Goemaere has had long-term experience in medical humanitarian aid. Since 1982, he has worked mainly with MSF in a number of countries, most of them in Africa and Southeast Asia.
He is a former medical director of the MSF Brussels operational centre and was general director from 1994 to 1999. In 1999 he was involved in the launch of the first public antiretroviral treatment (ART) programme in Khayelitsha, South Africa. He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Cape Town where he is a senior honorary lecturer in the university's School of Public Health.
