
Bedreldin Shutta
Bedreldin Shutta has over 15 years of experience in the field of humanitarian action, having worked for Oxfam, Save the Children, MSF Belgium, the UNHCR, Practical Action and Islamic Relief Worldwide, in Asia, Africa and the UK. He studied at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London, doing a PG Diploma and an MSc in Human Nutrition. He managed the Darfur Nutritional Surveillance Programme during the Sahel famine in the 1980s, and e organised food security and nutrition programmes in the Red Sea state of Sudan. He was also country programme representative for Oxfam in Iraq during the ‘Oil for Food' programme. More recently, he worked as protection advisor for the UNHCR in Eastern Chad, in the Darfur refugee camps and for Save the Children in Sri Lanka in areas previously controlled by the LTTE. Mr Shutta is a founding member of the Darfur Development and Reconstruction Agency (DRA) and of the SOMAR Charity Society in Sudan. He is a member of the Coalition to Stop Child Soldiers. Since 2006, he has been head of region (Asia) for Islamic Relief Worldwide (UK).
