Arjan Hehenkamp is general director of MSF Holland, based in Amsterdam. As a member of the MSF's management team he is responsible for 500 international and 7,000 national staff, and an annual budget of 140 million Euros. He studied Cultural Anthropology at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and has an MA in Development Practices from the University of Oxford-Brookes in the UK. Arjan has worked for MSF in Somalia (based in Baidoa and Nairobi, Kenya), Sudan (Khartoum), and Afghanistan (Jalalabad) as a logistician, an administrator and a financial coordinator. From 1995-7, he worked in MSF Holland's emergency team, working in Bosnia, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Croatia, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Congo-Brazzaville, Somalia and Afghanistan. He went on to become context advisor (1998-9), operations advisor (1999-2000), head of mission in southern Sudan from Nairobi (2000-4) and operational director of MSF Holland (2004-6). He has been general director of MSF Holland since 2011.
