Leonie von Braun
Dr. Leonie von Braun is Prosecutor at the District Criminal Court of Berlin and Speaker of the Working Group against Impunity of Amnesty International in Germany.
She was born in Göttingen, Germany, in 1978, but grew up in the United States before returning to Germany to study law in Bonn and Berlin.
Finalized her first state examination, Mrs. von Braun completed internships within the International Criminal Court (ICC), the Serious Crimes Unit in East Timor and Human Rights Watch as part of a scholarship by the Robert Bosch Foundation.
Her doctoral thesis concentrated on Hybrid Criminal Courts in East Timor, Sierra Leone and Bosnia-Herzegovina, which she concluded in 2007.
From 2006 till 2008, she completed the traineeship of the judiciary in Berlin and began to work as Prosecutor in April 2009.
Since 2005, she has been coordinating and facilitating Amnesty International's lobbying work on international justice issues in Germany.
