Dr. Jérôme Larché, 40 years-old, is a Medical Doctor, working in a French hospital's Intensive Care Unit, Narbonne, France. He is member of Médecins du Monde-France's Board since 2006 and has been re-elected for three more years in 2009. He is in charge of «security-acceptation and inter-institutional relationships» issues for MDM's Board.
He has published many articles (Humanitaire review, VOICE «out-of-loud», etc.) and opinions (Libération newspaper) on security and notably civil-military relationships issues.
Mr. Larché advocates strongly for a «safe distance» between humanitarian and military/political actors, because of the risks induced by a significant trend of «blurring the lines».
He is member of the Steering Committee of the VOICE CivMil Working group, located in Brussels. On behalf MDM's Board, he is also in charge of supervising an international program regarding «Violence against women», involving 29 countries and aiming at implementing a multidisciplinary management and an exchange of practices with local actors.
Jérôme Larché is Head of MDM's programs in Sudan as well, and particularly in Darfur, since 2005. He has been many times in remote places (currently in the mountainous area of Jebel Mara) where MDM implements their actions with a strong community's involvement. Mr. Larché has been on many other humanitarian fields (Chechnya, Indonesia, Kenya, etc.), too.
He is also involved with and interested in an academic approach by teaching in a Master 2, titled «International Defense and Strategy», at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques (Political Studies Institute) in Lille, France.
In 2009, he is indeed in charge of the module «NGOs practices in conflict and complex situations».
