Dennis Dijkzeul

Prof. Dr. Dennis Dijkzeul is Professor for Conflict and Organization Research and Executive Director of the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (IFHV) at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany.
From 2000 to 2002, he was Director of the new Programme for HumanitarianAffairs at the School for International and Public Affairs of Columbia University in New York.
He has been working as a Consultant for several international organizations in Africa, Central America, Europe, and the US. His main interests concern the management of international organizations, humanitarian action and rebuilding, and the (non)participation of local populations in development and humanitarian programmes.
His books include «Rethinking International Organizations: Pathology and Promise» (Berghahn Books, 2003), «Between Force and Mercy: Military Action and Humanitarian Aid» (Berliner Wissenschaftsverlag, 2004),
«Supporting Local Health Care in a Chronic Crisis: Management and Financing Approaches in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo» (The National Academies Press, 2006),
and «Humanitaire Bewegingsruimte: Hulp tussen Politiek en Onpartijdigheid» (Academia Press, 2010).
