Der XI. Humanitäre Kongress 

"Taking the Pulse of Humanitarian Action -
Reflections on Advocacy, Security,
and Climate Change" 

fand am 30. und 31. Oktober 2009 in Berlin statt und hatte insgesamt mehr als 500 Besucher.

Die Veranstalter Ärzte ohne Grenzen, Ärzte der Welt, Medair, das Deutsche Rote Kreuz, die Berliner Ärztekammer und das Institut für Sozialmedizin, Epidemiologie und Gesundheits-
ökonomie der Charité Berlin bedanken sich bei allen Unterstützern des Kongresses. 

Der XI. Humanitäre Kongress brachte 70 internationale Referentinnen und Referenten und eine große Anzahl an Experten aus den Bereichen Medizin, Politik, Medien, Internationales Recht und humanitäre Hilfe zusammen.
In ambitionierten Vorträgen legten die Rednerinnen und
Redner, die u.a. für deutsche und internationale Nichtregierungsorganisationen sowie für internationale Institutionen arbeiten, den Grundstein für spannende Diskussionen mit dem Publikum.

Schwerpunkte waren u.a. Sicherheitsfragen und der schwierige Zugang zu Menschen in Konfliktgebieten sowie die Probleme der zivil-militärischen Zusammenarbeit, Fragen der medizinischen Ethik und der manchmal problematischen Beziehung zwischen Medien und humanitären Organisationen, aber auch die Zukunft der AIDS-Behandlung in armen Ländern und die humanitären Folgen des Klimawandels.

The XI Humanitarian Congress

"Taking the Pulse of Humanitarian Action -
Reflections on Advocacy, Security,
and Climate Change"

took place from 30th to 31st October 2009 in Berlin and gathered more than 500 participants.

The organisers - Médecins Sans Frontières Germany, Médecins du Monde Germany, Medair International, the German Red Cross, the Berlin Chamber of Physicians and the Institute for Social Medicine, Epidemiology, and Health Economics of the Charité University Medical Center in Berlin - want to thank all supporters of the event.

In 2009, the Congress once again gathered a lot of experts and interested people from the medical world, from humanitarian aid, politics, the media, and international law.

The overarching theme this year was "Taking the Pulse of Humanitarian Action - Reflections on Advocacy, Security, and Climate Change." More than 70 international experts and practitioners shared and discussed ideas, concerns, and experiences in more than 20 talks, lectures, panel discussions, and workshops.

Discussion themes included issues related to security, civil-military cooperation, the relationship between the media and humanitarian organisations, access to people in conflict areas, medical ethics, the future of HIV/Aids treatment in poor countries and the humanitarian consequences of climate change.
